About Me
Can a Kindle ever take the place of a book?
A book is a book is not a machine, said Beth, one of the prize winners for young critics. You agree - or you become an e-reader? Take our survey!
never ceases to enrage whenever I hear someone say: "I just read a wonderful book on my Kindle." Mentally I have myself for not impulsively "No In fact, not just read a wonderful book on the Kindle, you read the words of a story off the screen of a machine. "A book is a book, not a machine.
A book cover paper or cardboard pages filled, whether photos, stories, diary entries or letters of a loved one, collected over the years.
Books are like people: each is unique, each has its own story to tell. They need a shelf and need a home. They can be torn or broken as you can break a bone. They can become famous like us. Born and grow old as we are.
A book is something you read then laughed or cried, and then stored on a shelf years later. Then removed the dust and cried how reminds me of all the thousands of times I read as a child. Maybe he was under the covers with a flashlight, saying that his parents did not see the light or in the garden on a summer day with the book to protect their eyes from the sun, waving their pages under the nose for the familiar "booky" smell.
Booksto staff, bent, folded, marked by dirty hands. They can be scribbled and signed by the author in a book by a great day.
Books- Books
- are things that are popular or hated and share with friends when you loved. These things happen in the family, not replaced when the latest model out (like a Kindle).
So, as I look at the camera in my hands, my heart leapt with joy at the power of some people to think about all that extra space in my suitcase and shelves or money you save . I am not surprised by their finesse and strength - you do not have to worry about breakage. I love being able to walk into any "library" and buy a "book" at any time in the comfort of my own home. No! But when I look at the Kindle, I see distant memories that many hours at the bookstore on the road, running my hands on the shelves, selecting novel after novel. Then, the store is closed.
