epic was a week to green building and clean technologies, such as the Solar Decathlon 2011 showed 19 of the most impressive in the world powered by the Sun manufactured home in Washington, DC - Inhabitat and brought up to cover last-minute winning home designs. Many of these homes have very unconventional designs - see SCI-Arc and inflated to Caltech from the inside and teepee-inspired prefab house TRTL Team Canada - while others such as Purdue InHome rely on building typologies tested current with the state of the art solar systems. Finally, the University of Maryland, House WaterShed innovative won first place in the competition with its green tea in water, concentrated, domestic life. More traditional InHome Purdue University came in second, and Team New Zealand (Victoria University of Wellington) came in third place with its beautiful wooden house at dawn.
