Australian architect Andrew Maynard has developed an unorthodox approach to capture the sun in winter and their exclusion from the summer. One of his latest creations, Hill House is an urban family in Melbourne that appears as if riding a wave of grass. The extension of the family home was built on the footprint of what was the backyard, without clogging or losing the original building. Apparently, perched on a rolling hill, the new building faces the sun and the box-shaped structure above acts as a passive solar wing, eliminating the summer sun, while letting the sun stream in winter ..
