postheadericon Tony Blackburn: I'm very into gadgets

legendary British DJ Tony Blackburn

is truly a geek at heart ... and a bit of an Apple fan, also

What is your favorite piece of technology and how it improved your life?

Well, of course, mobile phones, including Apple's iPhone, I think it's great. I mean, there is no phone is more than one computer, really. All Apple products I love. The mobile phone and iPhone in particular have revolutionized his life. FaceTime I was with someone in Bermuda, the other day. And I keep in touch with my sister who lives in Poole, Dorset, on the iPad - in FaceTime. This is kind of amazing technology. But I'm really into gadgets. I was probably one of the first satellite dishes in the country, and certainly one of the first satellite equipment as well.

When was the last time I used, and this

about five minutes to get an email.

What are the additional features are added if you could?

I honestly can not think of anything. The technology is phenomenal.

Do you think that will be obsolete in 10 years?

I'm sure will be what it implies. For now, Apple are leaders in the field, I think. What I like about technology is that Steve Jobs realized that I had to do was make the material easy to use. People just want to cover it and the thing works, and that's the beauty of Apple.

What frustrates always

technology in general?

I think we are still in the infancy of things [like] 3G and Wi-Fi, and sometimes does not work. I would be able to have Wi-Fi everywhere, so you do not have to find a point. It would be nice if we were completely related to it, and I think this is going to get the 4G mobile phone reception is also very frustrating. Where I live, which is very close to Elstree, I can not get a good signal in my house, which is ridiculous. If someone rings me on my laptop, I have to go into the garden to listen. I would have thought, now, be able to recover the signal at 100%. It is absolutely ridiculous.

If I had any advice on how to make the most of new technology, what would it be?

'm a geek, I'm certainly not a Luddite. I have everything, and I tend to get ahead of most young people I know, too. In radio stations that I, in all sincerity that many young people come to me for advice on how to do these things.

What is the most expensive piece of technology you've had?
I have a home theater with a digital projector. I was about 10 years, and it was about £ 12 000. I have not replaced because it is very good. I think the sound is slightly better than the Odeon Leicester Square
