postheadericon How to convert text documents into audio files

Bill Farman want to convert their RTF text documents into MP3 files so you can listen while mowing ...

there is a free download that will ensure that the information I get the Open University in RTF format so you can hear what I'm working? I text to speech on my HP Pavilion laptop but (a) I can not slow down enough to enter information manually rather than detective stories, etc., and (b) it is not practical to walk behind a lawnmower carry a laptop.

Text-to-speech (TTS) is easy to do at a simple level, and Texas Instruments began making chips speech - as used in the toy Speak & Spell - end of 1970. TTS later became common in computers during the next decade, home Atari 1400XL Micro in 1983. (Texas Instruments TI-99/4A done before, but only with optional plug-in speech synthesizer.)

As you see, TTS is also part of Microsoft Windows which is currently used by the Narrator screen reader to provide facilities for people with vision problems. Microsoft Office 2010 and 2013, Speak is integrated with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and OneNote. There are also many different programs that is using Microsoft SAPI (voice programming interface) and software platform to bring your own voice or a TTS system.

If you have Microsoft Office, try the open source Microsoft Word add-Save as DAISY, who works with Word 2003, 2007 and 2010. This allows you to select "Save as DAISY" in the Word menu, then "Full DAISY". This will save your RTF (Rich Text Format) or another XML file in e-book and MP3 audio synchronization created using Microsoft TTS engine software and the LAME encoder.

DAISY is the global standard for digital talking books, whose name derives from the system of digital information accessible. It was developed in Sweden in early 1990 and approved by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped American. This makes the audio much easier to navigate.

There are a number of management programs DaisyWorm including DAISY files for Apple iPad iPhone and iPod Touch, Android and go read.

Alternatively, you can play the MP3 file using any MP3 player.
I can not say which is best, but worth a try Balabolka. It supports a wide range of sources, including RTF, PDF and many e-book formats, offering a wide range of products, including WAV, MP3, MP4, WMA and OGG. There are sliders to change the usual speed and height (pimples fast / slow are too coarse to be useful). It supports both SAPI4 and SAPI5, so it works with a wide variety of voices, both free and commercial. Balabolka is free.

free alternatives include text Spesoft the President and MP3 Ultra Hal Zabaware TTS Reader, which stores files in WAV format.
