postheadericon An internet troll's opinion should carry no more weight than graffiti

Web is full of opinions, but without knowing the reasons for authors to publish why should we pay attention?

Valentine's Day, as usual, I received several anonymous at heart. "You're not funny, cock," "Why are you so smug shit", "You saw that in a repeat of Mock the week

, j ' was going to die. "This sort of thing.

But can I get that every day - all the actors do (besides not funny themselves, who are already dead). In fact, everyone does, it's one of the joys of the Internet age. On February 14, everyone used to wait for the chance of someone sharing their passionate feelings in disguise, and now happens all the time. Once you have a wall of Facebook, a Twitter account or just a name of someone to write anonymous letters Inc. is open for business. And it's not just people who are targets of foreign burning -. Restaurants, bars, hotels, books, movies and DVD are all objects of feelings so strong that those who argue that they are ashamed to reveal your identity

I am sure that shame is what it is. Like love, hate is something that makes us go with the red face. It is safer expressed in secret to avoid being rejected. If the coffee shop knew it was that he found the service rude or muffins for more money, which would make you feel vulnerable. This way you get to call the director warty witch face without having staff. Anonymity as a secret ballot is a sign of sincerity.

There was nothing honest about the negative comments of 30 The Good Life restaurant in Shrewsbury that were published online last fall. They came from the heart. In fact, from the heart: the 30 were written by different names, by Helen Griffiths, marketing director of Salford. But she was managing the marketing of The Good Life - it was not a complex exercise in reverse psychology. Flagrant violation of the "cold and inattentive" "hair on my quiche" personal aversion and real, hidden Ms Griffiths: the owner of vegetarian restaurant, Joanna Langfield. Griffiths was more angry that even tofu can be done, because Langfield Griffiths is the former partner and husband last August, was involved in a legal dispute with him.

review of online dispute, however, be considered illegal. Ms. Griffiths, after being warned by police harassment, had to publish an apology for the slander he had published, by carefully choosing the humus of the house and admit that he had "never been visited or ate in the restaurant. "That was the end of a long battle for Joanna Langfield to restore the good name of The Good Life in the face of a barrage of hate that caused a 25% drop in profits of the restaurant.

One can easily see the problem of Langfield. When a restaurant owner approaches a website to order the removal of negative reviews, saying they are biased, the application will be viewed with skepticism - in the unlikely event that the site for all staff see at all. Reviews online, either anonymously or you do not have a verifiable name, usually goes unanswered. We assume that the wisdom of crowds will ensure a reasonable perception is obtained, in general - that self-expression without censorship of hundreds of millions will tend toward the truth. Half the time it gives only average.

postheadericon MPs back games industry tax relief

industry organization Tiga has released a new report to the Treasury that the tax relief for the video game industry will create jobs and make millions for the country

Tiga, the trade body representing independent game developers in the UK presented new data at the Treasury and the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sport to support tax breaks for industry targeted games.

The report, A Tax Relief Games: an incentive to build an enduring video games development sector, the plans submitted for a tax credit system similar to that already provided to the film industry UK United Kingdom. This would mean a 20% relief on expenditure on the UK base for games that cost more than £ 3 million to produce, and 25 percent of basic expenses in the UK for the proposed budgets in the game between £ 50,000 and £ 3m.

Tiga CEO Richard Wilson Dr. said that tax breaks of more than pay for itself in five years, thinking that would create and save 4.661 direct and indirect jobs, while increasing the contribution of development games for the UK GDP of £ 283 million.

Britain has always been a world leader in the global video game industry, which generates more than $ 50 billion per year and is expected to grow 8.2% annually through 2015, according to PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

However, tax incentives working in countries like Canada and the U.S. have attracted major publishers, which are supported by studies in the UK witthdrawn over the last five years.

"The opportunity for Britain is clear," he said. "The gaming industry worldwide has increased 23% due to the global financial crisis, and is expected to grow by over 8% annually through 2015. If adequate support of the government is imminent , the game United Kingdom sector development can take advantage of this projected growth, thus contributing to rebalance the UK economy. "

Labour MP Tom Watson, himself an avid gamer, has championed the cause of the tax relief from the beginning, blogs angry about the problem on your own site.
Watson says the parlimentary support for the campaign is growing. "At Westminster, the all-party group on the computer and video game industry parties support tax relief," he said.

postheadericon Graphic designers are ruining the web

designers have become simple web pages of information sources inflated windows

What happens when you click a web link? Here is one answer: an application running from your computer to a server identified by the URL of the desired link. The server then locates the Web page for your records and return them to your browser, which is shown on the screen. Simple.

Well, the process was indeed like that once - long ago. Initially, the web pages were simple text pages marked with a few labels that allow browser to display correctly. But it means that your browser does not, the designer would be to control how a page for the user, and there is nothing that infuriates the designers to have someone (or something) to determine the appearance of their work. Then he embarked on a long campaign, vigorously and ultimately successfully, to exercise the same kind of detailed control over the appearance of web pages as they did their counterparts in print - as pixel

This had several consequences. Web sites began to look more attractive and, in some cases, it became easier to use. They had pictures, component video, animations and type of attractive colors in the sources, and were easier on the eye of pages seriously unimaginative web soon. They began to appear, in fact, the pages of magazines. And to make this possible, the site has ceased to be a static text to search for objects from a file store, but the assembly of servers for each page of March, picking up various graphics and other components their various places, and the office of any mess in a stream in your browser, which then assembled for your pleasure.

It was all very nice and elegant. But there was one drawback: the web pages started to gain weight. During the last decade, the size of web pages (in kilobytes) has more than septupled. From 2003 to 2011, the average web page has increased by over 679kb 93.7kB.

If you see this as a good thing or not depends on where you sit in the digital ecosystem. Aesthetes (and graphic design agencies) drool over the pages of elegant look and feel which is determined at the pixel level. Engineers emanations of the mess of bandwidth involved in sending data to share 679kb maybe 5 KB of information. Photographers I love the way your high resolution images can now be seen on Flickr and Picasa. Futuristic (and broadband providers) are pleased that this obesity epidemic is driving demand Web faster (and more profitable) point broadband contracts and the fact that the bandwidth of the communication is increasing at a rate even faster than processing power.

aa
Personally, I'm a minimalist I appreciate the higher content than aesthetics. Web sites and pages that I like tend to be like them because they are cognitively underdesigned loaded. Take, for example, the homepage of Peter Norvig, Google Director of Research. In terms of design that would make the full scope of graphic sickbag. Yet it is very functional, loads in a flash and has many wonderful things, such as the demolition memorable PowerPoint mentality in which he imagines how Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address would be considered a "presentation". Or his hilarious parody of Einstein "annual review of performance" for 1905, he published five papers that changed physics forever. (Einstein, you remember, was a humble patent clerk in Bern at the time.)

But besides these plums, Norvig site is full of good links to useful resources such as open source code that accompanies their textbooks. And it's so easy to navigate as something produced by a web design agency $ 100,000, plus an annual service contract.

postheadericon Roy Ewans obituary

My father, Roy Ewan, who died aged 94, was head of design and engineering of Vulcan Mk 2 bombers and one of the leading designers of British aircraft after the war . The Vulcan, designed as a nuclear deterrent, was a radical design and was the greatest moment of the delta-wing aircraft ever built. One hundred thirty-six of the attackers were made for the RAF and was in operation from 1956 to 1984. The only time I participated in a combat mission during the Falklands War, when used to drop conventional weapons. A plane is still maintained by fans and Roy was very proud to see its first flight after being made airworthy again in 2007.

Born in Torquay, Devon, won a scholarship to the school of St. Paul, London, and graduated from Imperial College London, with a first in mechanical engineering and a postgraduate degree in aeronautical engineering more. During World War II, Roy worked at the establishment of Royal Aircraft at Farnborough, Hampshire, and after D-Day was sent to France to evaluate the program of German aircraft in the territory formerly occupied , continuing after the Allied advance into Belgium and Germany itself, where he was assigned to the Sixth Army Group.

It made things instead of throwing them away, save the nails and screws in boxes of snuff carefully labeled.

In 1999 Roy had a stroke and he and Enid, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, moved to a residence in Virginia Water, Surrey, where he died in 2005 . Roy is survived by brothers Michael, John and Nick, and I, and seven grandchildren.

Apparently, the film itself was smuggled out of Iran in Cannes to put it in a key USB and then bake the cake on a USB key that was sent outside the country. Throughout the news coverage of this film, I have not seen anything about how the Iranian government has responded to this film, you should know about now.
