postheadericon Microsoft's Cold Feet Over SOPA Behind BSA's 'Rethinking' Its Views

"maximalist" organization, the Business Software Alliance (BSA) - essentially the RIAA in software - made an unexpected strong in the soup. Although it was close support jet initial support for a bit, knowing that the project would likely have unintended consequences that should be addressed. Behind this change? Apparently Microsoft. Microsoft, which has been very aggressive in the copyright (and patents) the application of recent times, has always publicly supported these bills, unlike most of the rest of the high tech industry. However, even seems to recognize that the soup is too far, and apparently had a little discussion with the BSA on the reverse.

also interesting in this article? Even AT & T still seems to be pushing against the SOUP:

Microsoft is not the only company to be taken to protect intellectual property still has reservations about the soup. Tim McKone, president of AT & T executive vice president of federal relations, told CNET last week that "we relied on the general framework" to protect intellectual property. But when it comes to soup, all AT & T want to say is that it is "work constructively with President Smith and others for a similar purpose in the House."

that is different from AT & T would be an understatement. Hopefully all the time that they would support what was proposed in the preliminary SOUP / PIPA. Apparently now they took the time to really understand what the bill proposes that recognize how it goes much too far ...
