postheadericon Justice Department antitrust division probing Verizon cable spectrum deals

seems that AT & T is not the only major guv'ment have trouble with lately. Remember that the 20 MHz AWS spectrum that Verizon received from Cox Communications for about 315 million U.S. dollars this month? How juicy spectrum Big Red scored with Comcast, Time Warner and Bright House for $ 3.6 billion? Well, that offers are stride or two in the Justice Department, which launched an investigation into the matter. A spokesman for the department confirmed that the probe with Bloomberg News, but declined to elaborate. A source close to the investigation, however, said the antitrust division is involved. Apparently, it is feared that the agreement puts too much control over the airwaves in the hands of Verizon. For its part, Verizon declined to comment, saying he has not received any information about the investigation.
