An announcement of the group that governs the PCI standard, known as the PCI-SIG has offered the first details on the next generation of PCIe 4.0. It will not arise around the corner, not PCIe 4.0 will not be a thing until about 2015. Before the final specifications are released, the group must complete the feasibility studies around 2013 or 2014. However, we know that PCIe 4.0 is shooting for some crazy performance numbers.
