postheadericon Rob Hyndman's Favorite Techdirt Posts Of The Week

Is a pleasure to write about my favorite Techdirt posts from this week. If you are reading this, chances are you're a longtime fan of the voice Techdirt and unique. Well, my favorite Techdirt posts are almost always on how the Internet is inevitably the (once?) Very low or stories about the leveling network that is causing, or arrogance in the face of technological change inevitable, adaptation or near the network requires the old social systems. The common theme here, and a powerful element of Techdirt culture is the difficulty many people and institutions have come to technological change with an open mind and an open heart. And this week, like most, Techdirt found much in this vein for writing.

first is a detailed dissection Mike wrote on profound ignorance of journalists from various intersections between the Internet, copyright, Twitter and journalism. This is one of many object lessons in Techdirt argument apparently still poorly developed between these things, and also just a piece wonderfully intense. Nobody does it better than Techdirt. (Teri Buhl meets our history, still confused about the Internet and Law)

What follows is a problem (unfortunately, but we're all here, I can live with it loggers) hold dear (Canada)-YASALIAW-Another story ideas Loony about Wifi. So this week, it was time to Techdirt aluminum cap with another piece of Mike in some primary and secondary schools in Canada with wild ideas on wireless. We see a lot of the Canada that I am ashamed to say, even at university level. But the positive side, if you're really afraid of wifi in Canada, our Canadian Tire megastore, which does not sell tires in Canada, probably aluminum cap on the size of your list and waiting. (Canadian Schools Ban science-based WiFi Bad)

Thirdly, another collision with Internet editor of Harper, a magazine that I admire very much. Ahhh, those transcendent moments of misunderstanding that plague Internet John MacArthur hurt my soul and face my will to live. But it can also be fun. In this episode, the subject of misunderstandings MacArthur is Google, and in the end after Tim Cushing will want to take him under his arms and tell him everything will be fine, it's just another editor does not understand. Now, to be fair, I get the strength that comes from the adaptation of rapid change. I am a lawyer, and is happening in my country. I am very sensitive to work requires a rapid change of the population most affected, and I think I understand the. Subtle but profound that I can do in his ability to see the world with an objective But, as Tim Harper has been here before. And there seems to be learning. This does not bode well. (Shakes Fist Magazine Publisher Harper verbal Google, idealizes own profession; citations Teletubbies)

Finally, perhaps my favorite in a bountiful harvest, and post Techdirt post on your best: a detailed article and very comprehensive, very technical but accessible in another unintended consequence of the DMCA: censors journalism that reports of retractions of scientific research (often as a result of scientific fraud). Techdirt We read a lot about people who play DMCA takedown notification on the diet, and there is little to prevent. In my opinion (as an observer, not our DMCA in Canada), this is one of its worst defects. So it's a real pleasure to read about takedowns that could be fraudulent and could result in backlash to the attack-er. This is a message that must taste. Lead to at least an hour before you're ready to play, place your favorite smoking jacket and loafers and cozy fireside will be time well spent. Finally and most importantly, because I think you might be hearing more about the topics in this post, first of all, a researcher named Anil Potti Duke, who resigned because of concerns about the integrity scientific research and now works at the University of North Dakota and apparently working with a reputable management company to address Internet blowback from their earlier disgust and secondly, that society. The story is questionable DMCA RetractionWatch note of the reports on the work of Dr. Potti, and Mike pointed out, one can not help but wonder after reading this story if Dr. Potti, or persons employed by He engaged in questionable behavior to hide information online about how bad before. As Mike said, "Somehow, I feel that this story is not over yet." Stay tuned this could cause problems. (For individual items DMCA Censorship / Site About reposts disgraced researcher, the author has removed the original)
All very nice, all Techdirt classic, and it reminds us all that there is little meaning to bang your head against the future going nowhere
